Recommendation Letters
Thank you for agreeing to recommend a student for Mathcamp! Mathcamp receives applications from all over the world, and our admission process is extremely selective. We appreciate your help in evaluating this student's application.
Teachers & Math Coaches: The student has listed you as a teacher who knows him or her well. In your recommendation, please comment on the student's creativity, initiative, ability to work independently and with others, as well as his or her mathematical background and academic achievements. Do you feel that a program like Mathcamp is suitable for this student? Are there are any special circumstances in the student's background that we should be aware of?
Personal Recommenders: We are looking for students who are not only good at math, but who will thrive in the atmosphere of freedom and responsibility that characterizes Mathcamp, and who will make a positive contribution to the camp community. The student has listed you as a personal reference. In your letter, please comment on his or her maturity, independence, social and personal qualities. Do you feel that a program like Mathcamp is suitable for this student? Are there are any special circumstances in the student's background that we should be aware of?
How To Submit: First, create an account on our online system. (You need a new username/password for 2013, but you can reuse it in future years.) Second, you should have received (from your student) a recommendation code. The purpose of the code is to link your recommendation with their file. You will need to enter the code into the online system to start your letter; if you need to submit your letter by email/fax/postal mail, we ask you to please include the code in your cover letter so that we can properly match the recommenders with the students.
In order for the student's application to be given full consideration, your recommendation must be received in a timely fashion. The deadline for 2013 recommendation letters to be received (not postmarked) is March 17 for Early Action applicants and April 17 for Regular Action applicants.
