QuestBridge Students

The Quest for Excellence STEM Award gives high-achieving, low-income high school juniors and seniors with career interests in the sciences, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics access to resources crucial for kick-starting a STEM career, such as providing full scholarships to residential summer enrichment programs. Mathcamp is proud to be one of the award's founding partner programs.

"For anyone interested in mathematics, applying to Mathcamp is a must. At camp, I learned more about math than I thought possible in five weeks, but what really stands out to me now are the memories and connections I shared with an incredible group of 150 genuinely curious, interesting, and kind people. I thank QuestBridge and Mathcamp for giving me an incredible opportunity I would not have otherwise considered."

–Agustin Garcia, 2016 Quest for Excellence STEM Award recipient

Who is eligible?

QuestBridge works with high school juniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite financial challenges. Any high school junior, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the U.S. is eligible for the College Prep Scholars Program. Additionally, U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents living abroad are eligible for the program. International students living outside the U.S. are not eligible. Applying to Mathcamp through QuestBridge

There are two main components to a Mathcamp application through QuestBridge: the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program application, and the Mathcamp Qualifying Quiz.

The College Prep Scholars Program application is due March 22nd. As part of that application, you will have the opportunity to fill out the Quest for Excellence STEM Award short essays, and select Mathcamp as one of the residential summer programs you're interested in.

Meanwhile, get to work on the Mathcamp Qualifying Quiz! Your Qualifying Quiz must be submitted to QuestBridge by April 9th in order to be considered for admission to Mathcamp. It's a good idea to get started on the Qualifying Quiz even before you submit your College Prep Scholars Program application: you should take your time thinking about and wrestling with the problems. (There is no time limit on this Quiz.)

Note that students who apply through QuestBridge will receive equal consideration for places at Mathcamp with those students who apply to Mathcamp directly, and if you are applying for the Quest for Excellence STEM Award, you do not need to submit a separate application to Mathcamp. (QuestBridge will send us your Qualifying Quiz; the other components of the application, such as recommendation letters and essays, will be covered by the Quest for Excellence STEM Award application, and you do not need to duplicate your efforts to fill out the Mathcamp forms.) We will give full consideration to all applications received through QuestBridge, with priority for those candidates selected by QuestBridge as Quest for Excellence STEM Award recipients.
